"More focus is needed on the hospitality sector as it is the key component for expanding tourism sector in the country," said Parvez Ahmed Chowdhury, principal of the National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (NHTTI), the country's lone hospitality training institute.
In a brief interview with the Dhaka Tribune, Parvez recently said: "Normally, around 30 people are employed in the country against a visitor. As we have a huge potentiality in the tourism industry, we need more trained manpower to attract more tourists in the country."
"Unfortunately, we are yet to be successful in portraying the positive image of our country to the rest of the world in absence of proper planning in this regard," said Parvez.
Stressing village tourism, he said: "Foreigners like to visit villages in our country to get different tastes which are rare in the developed nations. Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation is now also giving priorities on village-based tourism and anyone can play a vital role in contributing to the newly-emerged village tourism concept."
The efficient management of tourism products depends on professional training, and to develop professionalism and provide a cadre of skilled and trained manpower to meet the increasing demands for hotel and tourism industry at home and abroad, NHTTI offers various courses in the connection.
Tourism has become the highest income-generating activity across the globe and it holds great economic promise especially for the developing countries.

the sector should be boosted up !

Our economy can be altered by improving only this sector. Many countries around the world has changed their economy only by improving this sector. Govt. should nurture Tourism as a new born baby. It could be an blessed for our country.
